REview 3: Tasty App (LOVED)

Tasty is a short and sweet video based recipes with a simple UI and gorgeous images and videos. Love @tasty
Loved:
  • Gorgeous images of the food/recipes.
  • Autoplay videos.
  • Very easy to navigate (uses basic 3-tab bottom nav and standard back arrows).
  • Prompted for signup/login after I tried to “favorite” a recipe. I prefer prompts like this when a user takes an action that indicates they want to interact rather than just browse.
  • Search page has pre-populated searches/filters. It’s becoming quite common for apps to combine a Search page with a Discover/Explore page (@instagram comes to mind here).
  • App loading screen mimics the app’s layout albeit without the content yet, makes the app appear faster to load (although this app was actually quick to load).

Ok with:
  • Off-centered tiles but I’m not sure if it’s intentional.

Don’t love:
  • Notification & sign up prompts at the front of the onboarding.
  • The auto-play videos DO have audio, but I found the unmute button hard to click.
